Key Quote | `"I had to start asking money for Peter again... I hope you don't mind me coming back to you for some extra financial help"`

Overview

This email, sent in March 2010 (six months after the initial £10,000 transfer), reveals Reinaldo returning to Epstein for more money. It highlights his discomfort with relying on Peter Mandelson financially and his preference for Epstein's patronage to maintain "financial independence."

Key Findings

1. The Burden on Mandelson ("Peter")

Reinaldo admits:

"So, some months ago, I had to start asking money for Peter again for my own expenses which really is not easy for me!"

2. The Second "Ask"

"I hope you don't mind me coming back to you for some extra financial help before the begining of the second year of Osteopathy." [sic]
Context: The first payment (£10k) was in Sept 2009 for the first year. This request in March 2010 is asking for a top-up or early funding for the second* year (or living expenses in between), proving this was becoming a recurring subscription-like support system, not a one-off gift.

3. Professional Update

Reinaldo updates Epstein that he is "very happy" with the course and is doing "Pilates rehabilitation instructor" training to gain insight into body movement, but complains that the course "demands really full-time dedication," preventing him from working enough to be independent.

Dear Jeffrey,
Hope everything is well with you!

>

I have learnt loads so far in my Osteopathy course and every day is so much fun.
I really am looking forward to helping others as an osteopath in the near future.
This is so right for me and my professional goals.
The training hours I am undertaking as a Pilates rehabilation instructor in a studio, as much as I can, give me great insight and depth in the body movement and rehabilitation field.
So, in a nutshell, I am very happy with what I am doing!

>

However, I find it very difficult to be financially independent while doing the Osteopathy course as it demands really full-time dedication. So, some months ago, I had to start asking money for Peter again for my own expenses which really is not easy for me!

>

I woke up today and felt I could say this to you. I hope you don't mind me coming back to you for some extra financial help before the begining of the second year of Osteopathy.
I wouldn't like this to get in between my friendship and respect for you.
I hope you don't mind me asking.

Best , Reinaldo
